“My aim is to have plenty of money left for when
I retire and to ensure that I have enough money now for my family
and our need to live as we would like to. It is brilliant that I enjoy
what I do to earn the money, but it is important that it is managed
sensibly.
A good Adviser will make sure that the money, which as far as I am
concerned does not come easily, does not disappear easily. You need
to have the feeling that your money is working as well as it can without
you having to get too involved. |

On this basis I have say that my relationship
with my Adviser, Peter McGarvey of Benson McGarvey, Nottingham, has
been very productive for the 24 years that we have been working together”.
We asked David to comment on how he would cope without the
input of ourselves as his IFA. “Shockingly.
No, truthfully, I do try to get an understanding of what is going
on out there in financial terms by reading financial papers, or the
financial pages in newspapers. However, I think that without the expert
advice Peter gives me, I would be a lot more cautious and probably
have the bulk of my money in banks and building societies.
What I want from my Financial Adviser is not just the right sort of
advice, but the right sort of risk as well. I have been with him from
the days when I didn’t have a great deal of money and wanted
to hold on to it, to now when we have a lot more to play around with.
I appreciate and trust the advice given to me by Benson McGarvey implicitly,
but there are occasions when I might go beyond the suggestions I am
given and ask Peter about other areas. Obviously Peter is the expert,
but I do like to have an input”. |
